About Analytics¶
Why tracking analytics?¶
The integration of an analytics system within MAGES plays a pivotal role in user assessment, especially in the realm of medical simulations. This system allows users to evaluate their skills while providing valuable insights during the playthrough to pinpoint areas for improvement. Our analytics system serves as a comprehensive tool to assess and monitor the individual progress of each user.
Analytics are data related to the performance of the Actions inside the operation and provide further context to various aspects of the operation. They are exported after the operation is completed to be used for scoring, research, data analysis etc. For more information you can check the Analytics in the manual.
In MAGES, subject-matter-experts in the medical field dictate the specific performance parameters to be tracked during simulations. These parameters span a spectrum, from subtle details like “wrong angle during incisions” and precise “tool placements” to broader aspects such as time management under constraints and handling potential contamination issues.
MAGES Analytics are based on our paper “MAGES 4.0: Accelerating the world’s transition to VR training and democratizing the authoring of the medical metaverse”, which you can find here.
How to setup MAGES Analytics?¶
Our innovative analytic system in MAGES boasts a user-friendly interface built atop our visual scripting engine. This interface seamlessly integrates analytic functionality into actions with minimal modifications. Central to this system are the Errors, Events, Objectives dynamic components that capture data from both objects and user actions.
Post-simulation, users can conveniently access their analytics within the immersive VR/AR environment. Simultaneously, analytic reports are automatically uploaded to our online portal, streamlining the process for users to monitor their progress.
